Travel to Korea/Busan 부산 & Geoje 거제

Three lovely cafes in Busan.

Anywhere you go, you can't imagine a place without taking a tea break at some cafe. Thankfully, Busan has a lot of pretty cafes, living up to its reputation for tourism.

While many cool cafes please people, giving them opportunities to take good pictures for their social media, I visited only three cafes during my four-day trip in Busan.

If you are a cafe lover, consider the cafes I suggest in this post. During my physically demanding trip in Busan, those cafes down below gave me some perfect refreshing breaks.

I hope you enjoy good coffee breaks at my suggested coffee shops.

1. 흰여울비치 (Huinyeoul Beach)

This vividly pink cafe is located in Huin Ford Culture Village. The concept of this cafe is suggestive of the tropics. Dummy palm trees are displayed in and out of the cafe, and the furniture and the gadgets ooze tropical vibes.

Contrary to the all-pink exterior, which looked slightly dull to my eyes, the cafe's inside is much prettier and more diverse. Above all, the fact that this cafe offers lovely ocean views makes the inside much better than it looks outside.

Not only beautiful views does the cafe offer, but it also serves scrumptious, homemade cookies. Once you enter the cafe, you see a table on which various cookies are set. They are set in dainty baskets with mesh covers, making you feel that you are on a picnic.

This cafe has good reviews about its delicious desserts. When I pre-checked out this cafe on Naver Map, all the visitors who left comments about the desserts they served were giving the cafe massive thumbs up.

I didn't notice that they were serving cakes too, but those who tried their cakes left praising comments to Naver Map.

If I had known that, I would've ordered some pieces of cake too.

I had a cup of iced-americano with two cookies: a matcha berry cookie and one with figs on top. While some other cafes only focus on their interior design, not the taste of their drinks and desserts, Cafe Huinyeoul Beach pulls off both things. The coffee and cookies were very tasty, not to mention the ocean views and interior.

This cafe also has outdoor terraces. Because I visited it in summer, no one took any of the tables out there. It was extremely hot and humid at that time, and even spending a few minutes taking photos of the terraces made me sweat buckets. But, if you go there in spring or autumn, it would be much better to have a tea break with a sea breeze out on the terrace.

2. 도시농가코페도코 (Dosi Nongga Kope Doko)

Dosi Nongga Kope Doko. Dosi Nongga means, as they say, a farm in a city. However, although I tried to find out what Kope Doko meant, I couldn't get to know what it really meant.

The cafe is located near Seomyeon Street of Youth. It's about a ten-minute walk from Seomyeon Station or Jeonpo Station.

There are a bunch of cafes flocking in the street. Then, why did I pick this one? Because I really wanted to relax in a cosy cafe. Once I saw pictures of this cafe's interior, I immediately liked the vibes this cafe was giving off. The interior has comfiness in the modern and neat design.

Second floor. No-kids zone.

Living up to its name, it seemed that the cafe's owner had wanted to embody a not only modern but luxurious farmhouse. There is a front yard on the ground floor where cubicles and tables are. You can even see a huge coffee roaster and a bar on the first floor(second floor in American English).

It would be fool's gold if the cafe only had a pleasant interior design without lovely coffee and desserts. However, the coffee was great! And the carrot cake I had was delicious too!

I took a comfy couch, pulled out my book, and had such a good coffee break with some relaxing jazz music. Rain outside made the vibes cosier and shelter-like.

3. 옵스 (OPS)

OPS is more of a bakery brand than a coffee shop chain. As one of Korea's best bakeries, it pops up in Korean people's minds when they think about a good bakery in Busan.

It is said that OPS was named after an earth goddess in Greek-Roman mythology. The first OPS branch was launched in Namcheon-dong, Busan, in 1989.

There are nine of their branches only in Busan. Above the rest, OPS Marine City Branch near Dongbaekseom Island is the most popular one. It has a tea parlour, suggestive of a European cafe, which makes the branch most popular.

Hagwonjeon

Once you enter any of its branches, you will see a lot of bread is pilled up on stands. Various types of bread represent OPS. Above all else, 학원전(Hagwonjeon) is the signature sponge cake which consists of honey and egg. Hagwonjeon means the bread to eat before going to Hagwon(private schools that Korean students attend after school hours for additional study).

Apart from Hagwonjeon, big cream puffs, cheese pies, apple pies, and Myeongran Baguette(Baguette with roe of pollack on top) are famous. To be honest, whatever you pick up will never betray your expectation. OPS is as good a bakery as that.
