V of BTS is in the limelight, topping the 'Top 100 Most Searched Asians on Google' in the first half of 2022.
According to data collected by Google (the world's biggest search engine), V has been searched the most among Asian stars from January to the 23rd of June, 2022.
This record has beaten many other artists of all genres, including singers and actors throughout Asia.
"Google Trend" is an analytic service for large databases on search words and viewed videos. Its populations have mammoth data, serving as objective and meaningful indices to recognise popularity. Proving its public confidence, Google Trend is also used for companies' marketing strategies and political campaigns.
V has been on a roll, having topped the 'Top 100 Most Searched Asians on Google' back in 2021 and 2022.
As a result of the total data searched on Google Trend, from the BTS's debut in 2013 to June 2022, V has proven his prominent presence as the most searched k-pop star.
BTS has made the most searched k-pop boyband in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2020, and 2021. 2016 is the year they began to rise to fame. Especially, BTS has been ranked the top among Asian celebrities beyond the k-pop genre since 2021.
Even on Wikipedia, one of the most socially-acknowledged indices apart from Google, V has broken his previous best record among other k-pop artists. Wikipedia also supplies big data, publically confident enough to serve for the US elections.
Ever since Wikipedia provided an official ranking service, V's page on the website has been viewed most among other k-pop artists. His 10 million hits as the first k-pop artist reflect the explosive interest, particularly in English-speaking countries.
V's presence is unparalleled even on Instagram, the leading social media platform. His Instagram followers add up to 46.29 million, as many as South Korea's population. The number of his followers is the biggest compared to the opening period; his presence as a 'Worldwide It Boy' at the Celine show during the Paris fashion week spurred the growth of his followers.
